Short Story – Lee, Shortly After Heroes Six

This paragraph is followed by a trigger warning. I am attempting to hide the warning for those who don’t want the story to be spoiled, but it might not work the first time. This may mean some readers will see the warning whether they want to or not. I apologise if that happens.

In case someone doesn’t know what “trigger” means, my best definition is that there is material in this story that some readers might find distressing, perhaps because they had experienced the events themselves.

Warnings (highlight to view, may contain spoilers): { The story involves the suicide of a minor character. Some may find how the suicide itself is handled offensive. It is not my attention to offend anyone, but given the nature of the subject, I’m not sure it’s possible to avoid offending everyone. }

Short Story Discoveries Part Two, Taro’s POV Shortly After Book Six

All exposition and no action. Also, very short. Not really spoilery.

SHORT STORY: DISCOVERIES, PART ONE, LEE’S POV, SHORTLY AFTER BOOK SIX

I’ve realised I have to start giving the short stories titles, instead of just stating the POV and when, during the series, the stories took place. That’s getting confusing.

This story is clunky and anvilicious, and the characters are out of character. I think it has to be. I’m using this story to respond to some comments from readers that I’ve come across. If this part of the series were a whole book, I’d be able to address these ideas more subtly, but given it’s a short story, I have to sort of dump the concepts right on the table all at once. If this thing will really drive you nuts, you don’t have to read it to understand the last book.

This is extremely EXPERIMENTAL. The main character in this story may not show up in the final draft, the other character might not end up behaving this way. I don’t know what reading this will do to you if this stuff doesn’t actually make it to the final draft.

And if I do end up using this, the SPOILERS ARE MASSIVE.

So, warning.

Short Story, Willa Newscomb, Lady Green, shortly after book six.
